What is a Book Festival?
A book festival brings together published authors, writers who want to publish, and readers who love to talk with them about books of every kind. At the Allatoona Book Fest you can meet and mingle with new authors and writers from all over Georgia. There will be panels and author presentations on various topics. You can learn about tips to get yourself published, writing tips and topics or pick up a new book to read. There will be many books on display, book signing and tables for libraries, booksellers and other organizations and sponsors who support the world of books.
When and Where will the Book Festival take place?
The Book Festival is scheduled for the first weekend in October. Details on the times and program will be announced. It will take place at the Roberts School Community and Education Center, 4681 School Street in Historic Downtown Acworth. [Map] There is ample parking adjacent to the Center and along School Street.
Is the Festival Open to the Public?
Yes, and it's free!
Who sponsors the Festival?
The Allatoona Book Festival is being initiated by the Acworth Cultural Arts Center (ACAC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting arts and culture including the literary arts in our area. The ACAC is also reaching out to writers groups, authors and others in the literary community to join in this effort. Last year's inaugural festival was also sponsored by ten downtown businesses and included the support and participation of the Acworth Tourism Board and Cobb County Libraries.
I'm a writer, how can I get involved?
There are opportunities for writers both to display and sell their works and participate in panel and workshops both as presenters and participants. See the pages for Authors and Exhibitors for more information.
I'm not a writer, how can I get involved?
Community volunteers are welcome, and can help with all aspects of this exciting event. Everything from program planning, publicity, fundraising and logistics will require the support of folks of all backgrounds united in the conviction that books and literary arts are a precious resource of our culture.
